Project Overview
This project involved the installation of a self-activating flood barrier across a garage entry serving a commercial building in South Melbourne VIC.
Located within a CBD environment, the site required a reliable flood mitigation solution to reduce the risk of stormwater entering the building during heavy rainfall events. As part of the development approval process, Melbourne Water required flood protection at this vulnerable entry point.
The Problem
Large garage openings in commercial buildings can present a significant flood risk, particularly in urban environments where stormwater can accumulate quickly. At this site, the garage entry created a wide, low-level opening where water could enter the building during heavy rainfall.
